Police arrested a man early this morning for felony assault after officers located a woman with a cut to her throat. The woman was transported to the hospital for treatment.
Shortly before 2:00 this morning, an officer was alerted to an adult woman who appeared to be intoxicated near Boren Avenue North and Mercer Street. The officer went to check on her and found she had a severe cut to her throat. The woman could not speak due to her injury but communicated to the officer via handwritten notes as to the location of the suspect.
Additional officers converged on the area and located the 62-year-old suspect in a van parked nearby. Although the suspect was uninjured, he was covered in blood and acknowledged involvement in the assault.
Seattle Fire Medics treated the woman at the scene and transported her to Harborview Medical Center. The suspect was arrested and booked into the King County Jail. Detectives will continue to conduct the follow up investigation.
