Officers arrested a man Tuesday afternoon in the University District after he tried to make a fast break with a woman’s cellphone.
The 24-year-old victim walking in the 1000 block of NE 45 St. with a group of friends when a man dribbling a basketball passed by them on the street. The 21-year-old man grabbed the woman’s cellphone and tried to run away. When the victim tried to grab her phone back, the suspect knocked her to the ground.
Two witnesses chased the suspect down, retrieved the victim’s phone, and flagged down officers.
The suspect took off again, but officers caught up behind a home to him and took him into custody.
Police booked the suspect into King County Jail for investigation of robbery.
