Today the Seattle Police Department’s South Precinct will host the first annual South Precinct Community Engagement Basketball Tournament at the Rainier Beach Community Center. The event will be formatted as a traditional 3 on 3 basketball tournament, pairing area youth with officers.
In addition, there will be several local celebrities volunteering their time, including former Sonics Slick Watts and Shawn Kemp, Talia Walton (former UW and current WNBA Los Angeles Sparks player) and Dwane Chappelle (former Rainier Beach High principal and current Director for Seattle Department of Education and Early Learning).
The organizers would like to thank members of the community for their generous support, without it this event would not be possible. The event will be held Friday, May 13th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Rainier Beach Community Center located at 8825 Rainier Avenue South. All are welcome.
