Bike Officers Seize Two Guns After Finding Woman Passed Out In Pickup

A routine bike patrol through downtown Seattle Tuesday led police to arrest a man and recover two handguns after finding a woman in a pickup truck littered with drug paraphernalia.

Bike officers were riding in the 400 block of Stewart Street. around 9 pm when they witnessed what they believed was a drug deal between two men in a parking lot. One of the men involved in the transaction then walked over to a pickup truck parked nearby, reached inside, and then rode off on his own bicycle.

Officers went over to check out the truck and found a woman sleeping inside, and noticed drug packaging materials on the floorboards of the vehicle.

The man returned a short time later and noticed officers checking on the woman inside the truck. He tried to ride away, but bike officers followed him and arrested the man after they found him hiding behind a planter. Inside the planter, police found his backpack containing crack cocaine, heroin, pills and hallucinogenic mushrooms, as well as a handgun.3287021

Officers woke up the woman sleeping in the pickup and served a warrant on the vehicle, where they found a second handgun and more narcotics.

Police booked the 37-year-old man, who is a convicted felon and unable to legally possess guns, into King county jail on narcotics and firearms charges.  The woman was released from the scene pending further investigation.
