Police chased down a man with a stolen gun early Saturday on Capitol Hill after he flashed it at another man in a parking lot.
The victim told police he was urinating in a parking lot in the 1400 block of Broadway just before 2 AM when he saw a ponytailed man dressed in a denim jacket muttering to himself. The denim-clad suspect then reportedly racked the slide of a handgun several times before sticking it into his pants.
When the victim saw the suspect walking toward a nearby business, the victim stopped him and told him not to go inside. The suspect then lifted up his shirt, showing off his gun to the victim.
The victim moved away from the suspect and called 911. When officers arrived, the victim pointed out the suspect as he was walking through the parking lot.
The suspect took off running, but officers pursued him through the lot until he dashed in between two parked cars. Police heard a metallic clatter on the ground just before the suspect emerged from between the two vehicles with his hands in the air.
Police arrested the 25-year-old man and recovered a handgun from underneath a car. The gun had reportedly been stolen in Mill Creek. Officers also found 5.6 grams of suspected cocaine on the suspect and booked him into the King County Jail for narcotics possession, harassment and possession of a stolen firearm.
