Suspect Arrested During Early Morning Parking Garage Burglary on Capitol Hill

A 28-year-old man is now in custody after officers located him inside a secured parking garage early Thursday morning attempting to steal items from parked cars and storage lockers.

At about 6:25 am officers responded to a possible burglary in progress at an apartment building in the 1800 block of 11th Avenue.  A resident heard banging and saw an unknown male inside the secured parking garage.  The resident called 911.   When officers arrived the suspect attempted to flee by climbing a fence, but was quickly detained.  During their initial investigation, the officers located open car doors and storage lockers in the locked garage. Officers recovered property from the garage on the suspect.  A check of his name revealed he had an outstanding felony warrant for burglary.  He also was in possession of narcotics.  The suspect informed the officers that he had ingested a large quantity of the drugs, so the Seattle Fire Department responded to evaluate him.  After being checked out at the hospital, the suspect was medically cleared and then booked into jail for burglary, drug possession and the burglary warrant.
