Detectives from the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) responded to the scene of a serious injury collision investigation involving a pedestrian and several motorists at 1st Avenue and Columbia Street.
Just before 10:00 am on Thursday, January 5th, Seattle Police and Fire responded to reports of a three vehicle collision involving a pedestrian at 1st Avenue and Columbia. The victim was treated at the scene and transported to Harborview Medical Center by Seattle Fire medics with life-threatening injuries.
The preliminary report indicates that the driver of a truck was travelling southbound on 1st Avenue when they collided with another vehicle, which was travelling westbound on Columbia Street. The vehicles also struck a pedestrian in the intersection, as well as another vehicle.
The driver of the truck was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) officer for any sign of impairment, which is standard protocol in any serious injury collision. There were no signs of impairment. TCIS detectives continue to actively investigate this incident.
