A 59-year-old woman has been transported to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries after she was struck by a car early Tuesday morning near 8th and James. Detectives from the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad are investigating.
At approximately 6:20 am, police responded to a report of a vehicle/pedestrian collision just west of 8th and James. The woman was attempting to cross James Street near 8th when she was struck by a Nissan Sentra travelling westbound. The woman suffered serious injuries and was transported to HMC by Seattle Fire Department medics. The driver of the Nissan, a 40-year-old male, was evaluated at the scene by officers for any sign of impairment. The driver showed no sign of impairment and has cooperated with the investigation. TCIS detectives responded to the scene and began their investigation. James Street was closed during the investigation but has since reopened.
This remains an active and on-going investigation.
