Driver Arrested After Striking Two Pedestrians Near 5th and Union

A 27-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday for after she struck two pedestrians on a downtown Seattle street and showed signs of impairment when she was examined by police.

The woman was driving southbound on 5th Avenue around 2:45 PM when, according to witnesses, she ran a red light at Union Street and struck a man and a woman in the road.

The female victim sustained possible broken bones in the crash and was taken to Harborview Medical Center for treatment. The male victim was treated at the scene and released.

Police arrested the driver after she showed signs of impairment. She will be booked into the King County Jail for investigation of vehicular assault.
