Celebrity Fisherman Arrested After Altercation With Ride-Share Driver

Television fisherman Sigurd Hansen was arrested early Thursday by Seattle police following an altercation with a ride-share driver.

The driver told police he had picked up two men and two women, who had requested a ride from the 2200 block of Northwest Market Street to an address outside of Seattle in Shoreline, WA.

According to the driver, the Shoreline trip was cancelled in the ride-share app, which led to a dispute with the passengers over the fare.

The driver told police that during the dispute, the older male passenger—later identified as Hansen—kicked a dent in the rear passenger side of the ride-share vehicle and reportedly spit at the driver.

The driver contacted police following the incident, leading officers to contact Hansen at his residence in Shoreline.

Hansen told officers he’d been celebrating Norwegian Independence Day, but disputed any altercation with the ride-share driver. Officers arrested Hansen and booked him into the King County Jail for assault and property destruction.

Due to significant media interest in the incident, the department has made a redacted copy of the report available here.
