Woman Arrested for Arson Following Georgetown Business Fire

A 28-year-old woman is in custody for arson following an intentionally set fire at a Georgetown business early Friday morning.

At approximately 1:15 am officers were dispatched to an arson call in the 6200 block of Corson Avenue South.  An eyewitness reported seeing a woman start a fire in a trash can next to the building.  There was also fire damage to the entrance of the business.

The witness kept the suspect in sight as she walked to a nearby gas station near 6th Avenue and S. Michigan, where officers contacted her.  The witness positively identified the suspect who was then taken into custody.

The Seattle Fire Department responded and put out the fire.  There were no reported injuries.

The suspect was later booked into the King County Jail for arson.  Detectives will handle the follow up investigation.
