Suspect Arrested, Woman Injured in U-District Stabbing

Police have arrested a suspect following a stabbing  early Thursday morning in the University District.  The victim is receiving treatment at the hospital.

Shortly after 3:00 am  officers responded to a call of a stabbing inside an apartment in the 4700 block of 12th Avenue NE.  The initial report was that a man had assaulted another man inside the apartment and that a woman had been stabbed in the eye. The call indicated that the suspect was still inside the apartment.

Officers responded along with Seattle Fire.  Officers contacted the victim, a 30-year-old female outside of the building.  She had a stab wound above her right eye.  SFD personnel treated her injury as she told officers that there were other people in the apartment and that the suspect became upset and wanted everyone to leave.  According to the victim, the suspect began yelling at her, and that is when one of the men in the apartment told the suspect not to yell at her.  The suspect grabbed a knife and attempted to stab the man, but missed and stabbed the woman instead.

Officers located the 54-year-old male suspect and took him into custody without incident. The suspect confirmed the version of events the victim told officers.  The other victims/witnesses inside the apartment were not located, but officers did recover the knife.   The suspect was later booked into the King County Jail for investigation of assault.

Detectives will handle the follow up investigation.
