Detectives are investigating after a man was shot in the Brighton neighborhood late Wednesday night.
Witnesses began calling 911 after hearing shots fired in the 4400 block of South Holly Street just before 10 p.m. Officers arrived and found multiple shell casings of various calibers in the street between South Holly Street and South Warsaw street along 44 Avenue South. The witnesses told officers that an unknown make white sedan was seen speeding out of the area following the gunshots. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate any victims or suspects.
An hour later, employees at Harborview Medical Center (HMC) reported an 18-year-old had just walked into the emergency room with a minor gunshot wound. Officers arrived and spoke with the man who claimed he was sitting a vehicle parked near the shooting scene when he heard shots fired and was then taken to HMC by friends.
