West precinct officers used their de-escalation training Tuesday evening to help a man in crisis downtown.
Officers Owen Rodmaker and Zachary Pendt were dispatched to investigate a man sitting on the ledge of Alaskan Way at Western Avenue Tuesday evening.
They arrived at 8:15 p.m. and spotted a 25-year-old man sitting on the ledge. The officers spoke with the man who was clearly in crisis and over the course of ten minutes convinced the man to go to the hospital for evaluation.
The man was transported by private ambulance to Harborview Medical Center for further evaluation.
