A 30-year-old man was arrested Thursday afternoon for a street robbery that occurred early morning March 18th. Officers recognized him from store surveillance images distributed in a bulletin.
On March 18th, at approximately 5:00 am, the suspect grabbed a purse from a woman walking in the 900 block of Westlake Avenue North, breaking the purse straps. The suspect fled on foot, and the victim called 911. Shortly after the robbery, the victim’s credit cards were used at two separate downtown stores. Images of the suspect were captured on the store cameras and a bulletin was created and distributed to officers.
On March 29th, two officers familiar with the suspect, located and arrested the suspect and transported him to the Robbery Unit office. The suspect was later booked into the King County Jail for identity theft, with additional robbery charges pending.
A robbery detective will continue to follow up on this incident.
