Officers arrested a man after a woman called police to the 1100 block of North 90th Street Wednesday morning when an acquaintance stole her smartphone.
Officers arrived just after 7 a.m. and spoke to the 31-year-old woman who said she was sitting with a man she knew from past conversations when he began claiming she owed him money. The victim said the suspect then assaulted her and took her cell phone before fleeing the scene.
Officers searched the area and found the 31-year-old man at a nearby fast food restaurant and took him into custody. While officers were attempting to verify with the victim that they had the correct person, the suspect attempted to run away but officers took the man back into custody a short distance away.
Police booked the man into King County Jail for investigation of robbery and will work with the Prosecutor’s office as the case moves forward.
