Homicide Investigation in Ballard

UPDATE 5/1:  Homicide detectives and SWAT,  working with detectives from the Real Time Crime Center and Intelligence Unit, arrested a 25-year-old man near Shoreline yesterday afternoon for the April 22nd Ballard homicide.   The suspect was later booked into the King County Jail for investigation of murder.  This remains an active and on-going investigation.  Anyone with information on this crime is asked to contact investigators at (206) 233-5000.

Homicide detectives are now conducting the follow up investigation after they responded to the scene early this morning.

On Sunday, April 22nd, at 1:45 am, officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 4900 block of Leary Avenue NW.  Officers located the 29-year-old male victim in the street in the 4900 block of 17th Avenue NW suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.  Officers performed CPR until relieved by Seattle Fire.  The victim was pronounced dead while being transported to the hospital.

Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene and took over the investigation.  Anyone with information on this incident is urged to contact the Seattle Police tip line at (206) 233-5000.
