UPDATE: Gang Unit detectives identified the suspect. The suspect and his vehicle were located yesterday late afternoon on First Hill. Detectives conducted surveillance as SWAT arrested the 28-year-old suspect and detectives served a search warrant on the suspect’s residence and vehicle. Two handguns were recovered. The suspect was later booked into the King County Jail on a number of gun-related charges. This remains an active and on-going investigation.
Detectives will be handling the investigation following a shooting that occurred Monday afternoon in the Central District. A 22-year-old man was struck in the leg and was transported to Harborview Medical Center where he will be treated for his non life-threatening injuries.
At 12:45 pm witnesses called 911 reporting hearing several gunshots near the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Way and East Union Street. Officers responded and located the victim in the parking lot of a business in the 2700 block of East Union Street. Officers secured the scene while Seattle Fire treated the victim’s injuries.
Investigators later determined that a suspect, described as a black male, driving a green colored sedan, drove out of the parking lot and fired several shots at the victim, striking him. The suspect vehicle continued eastbound on East Union Street.
