Officers Arrest Man After He Sets Ex-Girlfriend’s RV On Fire

Officers arrested a man in SODO this morning after he violated a domestic violence no-contact order and set his ex-girlfriend’s RV on fire.

The victim, a 44-year-old woman, called 911 just before 4:30 a.m. today to report her ex-boyfriend had violated a court order. The woman was living in an RV in the 800 block of South Dakota Street.

Police quickly converged on the vehicle and found the 43-year-old suspect locked inside. The woman told officers the suspect had gasoline inside the RV and had threatened to burn it.

SWAT and Hostage Negotiators responded to the scene and attempted to convince the man to peacefully surrender.

Just before 6:15 a.m., the suspect set a smoldering fire to the interior of the RV.

At 7:45 a.m. the suspect jumped out of one of the RV windows and SWAT officers arrested him.

Seattle Fire Department firefighters extinguished the fire while medics took the suspect to Harborview Medical Center for burns and smoke inhalation.

Twelve SPD employees and one K9 received follow-up medical care for smoke inhalation.

The suspect remains under guard at Harborview Medical Center and will be booked into King County Jail upon release.
