Witnesses began calling 911 just after 8 p.m. Thursday to report a fire at a church in the 7100 block of 42 Avenue South.
The Seattle Fire Department responded to the scene and arrived after the fire had already been extinguished.
Fire investigators spoke with witnesses who stated a person had thrown lit bottles of an unknown liquid at the building. The bottles caused minor damage to the exterior of the church. No one inside the church was injured.
Seattle Police Arson/Bomb Squad detectives have taken over the investigation and are working with witnesses to develop a suspect description. Crime Scene Investigators are currently on scene collecting evidence.
