Police arrested a man for a drive-by shooting on Wednesday after receiving multiple reports of gunfire in the High Point neighborhood.
Neighbors in the 3500 block of Southwest Morgan Street began calling 911 just before 4 p.m. to report that someone was firing shots from a silver Dodge Charger, which sped away following the shooting.
Officers converged on the area and were unable to locate any victims but found the car stopped and unoccupied in the 6400 block of 31st Avenue South. The car had multiple bullet holes in the windshield and shell casings scattered across the seats. Police contacted the registered owner who said he was out of state and his brother was the only one with access to the vehicle. Officers were able to call the suspect, who agreed to turn himself in. Additional officers took the suspect into custody at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr Way South and South Othello Street without further incident. Officers searched the home of the suspect and located a firearm stashed inside a rolled up rug.
Police transported the 37-year-old suspect to police headquarters for questioning and later booked the man into King County Jail for aggravated assault and drive-by.
