Detectives Investigating Serious Injury DUI Collision in Dunlap Neighborhood

Detectives are investigating after a 39-year-old woman was struck and seriously injured in a possible DUI hit-and-run collision Thursday evening.

Police were dispatched to the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr Way South and South Henderson Street at 6:15 p.m. Thursday to reports of a woman who had been struck by a passing van.  Officers quickly flooded the area and found the van blocks away from the scene, attempting to flee.  Additional officers found the woman on the pavement and immediately began first aid measures.  Seattle Fire Department medics took the woman to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Officers checked the driver and believe he may have been impaired at the time of the collision.  Police arrested the driver for DUI and also arrested a passenger for an unrelated warrant.

Traffic collision detectives are now on scene collecting evidence and speaking with witnesses.

This remains an active scene and details may change as the investigation progresses.
