Detectives from the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) are conducting an investigation following a serious injury collision that occurred Thursday evening in the International District. The victim, a 32-year-old man was transported to Harborview Medical Center with a head injury. The 50-year-old female driver was arrested after she exhibited signs of impairment.
At approximately 7:30 pm a Chevrolet Impala was traveling eastbound in the 900 block of South Jackson Street. The front of the Impala struck a 32-year-old man that was reportedly riding a stand-on electric scooter in the roadway. The Impala left the scene of the collision. A few minutes later, the driver of the Impala, a 50-year-old woman, returned to the scene in her car and spoke with officers.
TCIS detectives responded to the scene and began their investigation.
The woman exhibited signs of impairment and was arrested after she failed the tests administered by officers. She was later booked into the King County Jail for DUI and false reporting for lying about her name and other details.
The 32-year-old victim is recovering at Harborview Medical Center. This remains an active and on-going TCIS investigation.
