Major Crimes Task Force (MCTF) detectives followed a stolen BMW this morning from North Seattle to the city of Renton and arrested three teenaged occupants after they got their car stuck in the snow.
On Tuesday, February 12th, a group of suspects stole two vehicles from a lot of a car rental agency near SeaTac. One of those vehicles was a 2018 BMW 430i.
This morning, Seattle Police were notified that the stolen BMW was near Magnusson Park. North Precinct officers responded and located the stolen BMW. The suspects inside the stolen car fled at a high rate of speed. The officers did not pursue, rather, they relied on tracking data provided by BMW. The vehicle was tracked to downtown, and then the Central District, and then eastbound on Interstate 90. MCTF detectives followed the stolen BMW to a location in Renton, where Renton Police officers assisted taking the three juvenile suspects into custody after the driver got the car stuck in the snow.
One of the suspects was booked into the Youth Services Center for an outstanding felony warrant. The second suspect was also booked into YSC for theft of a motor vehicle and eluding, and the third suspect was booked for an outstanding felony warrant.
This remains an active and on-going investigation.
