Tool Traffickers Lose Game of Hide and Seek to Cops

Detectives recovered a contractor’s stolen tools and arrested two men after serving a search warrant in the Rainier View neighborhood.

A man called 911 on January 21st to report several thousand dollars of tools had been stolen from a construction site in the 1900 block of 29th Avenue West. Burglary detectives began investigating and were advised by the victim that some of the items were being sold on an online market place.

Detectives identified two possible suspects that had been trafficking in stolen items including the ones stolen from the construction site and were selling them from a vacant house in the 10600 block of 62nd Avenue South. Officers served a search warrant on the home on February 16th and discovered multiple hidden rooms and compartments that the two suspects, a 28-year-old man and a 32-year-old man, had built and were hiding in. Police recovered almost a hundred stolen tools, various electronics, and other stolen items.

Officers booked the two suspects into King County Jail for investigation of trafficking in stolen property.

Detectives are now working to identify and return any stolen items with their original owners.
