Update 4/25:
Detectives arrested a 40-year-old man for assault Wednesday evening after serving a search warrant on his tent in Freeway Park. Detectives booked the man into King County Jail and will now work with the King County Prosecutor’s office as the case moves forward.
Detectives are investigating after a man was assaulted and left with life-threatening injuries in the 1000 block of 5th Avenue, Saturday morning.
Witnesses began calling 911 just before 8:30 a.m. today to report a man had been assaulted just outside the library. Witnesses went on to say the suspect then walked away southbound along 5th Avenue.
Seattle Fire Department Medics took the man to Harborview Medical Center where he continues to receive treatment injuries to the head.
Patrol officers scoured the surrounding areas but did not locate the suspect.
Detectives have spoken to witnesses, collected surveillance video, and are examining additional evidence left at the scene.
