Officers responded to a report of a burning shed behind an abandoned house earlier this morning in South Park. According to witnesses, a man was seen throwing wood onto the burning structure in he 1200 block of South Cloverdale Street shortly after 9:00 am Friday morning.
Officers and the Seattle Fire Department arrived, and witnesses pointed out the 31-year-old man who was still in the area. There were no reported injuries. Witnesses positively identified the man as the suspect, and he was taken into custody.
The Seattle Fire Department handled the shed fire while the suspect was transported to the Southwest Precinct where he was interviewed by Arson detectives. Following the interview, the man was booked into the King County Jail for investigation of arson.
This remains an active and on-going investigation, and the Arson/Bomb Squad will handle the follow up.
