Seattle Police Force Investigation Team (FIT) detectives and the King County Sheriff’s Office are conducting separate investigations into a fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred in the 600 block of 3rd Avenue West just after 7 p.m. Wednesday evening.
West Precinct patrol officers responded to a 911 call from a woman reporting her boyfriend had armed himself with a knife and was trying to assault her. The victim told 911 operators she was hiding in the bathroom and the suspect was still in the apartment.

Seattle Fire medics responded and declared the suspect deceased. He is an adult man. Additional details about him are not yet available.
Detectives from the Force Investigation Team, CSI, as well as representatives from the Office of Police Accountability and the Inspector General, were present at the scene.
Per the Department’s agreement with the King County Sheriff’s Office, and in accordance with Initiative 940, Sheriff’s Office investigators also responded to conduct an independent investigation.
