Detectives Investigating Overnight Shootings That Sent Two Men to the Hospital

Officers were dispatched to the intersection of 46th Ave., South and South Eddy Street at 11 o’clock Friday evening to investigate a shooting. When officers arrived, they found one man with a gunshot wound under his left arm and another man who was uninjured.

The victims stated they were walking through the neighborhood when a gray van and blue car slowly began following them. The two victims said that people from inside both of those vehicles began shooting at them. The uninjured man then pulled out a handgun and returned fire.

Officers searched the neighborhood but were unable to locate any of the suspects.

Medics took the man who was shot to Harborview Medical Center where he is currently receiving treatment.

In a second incident, officers were dispatched to the 2700 block of South Jackson St. at midnight to investigate another shooting.

Witnesses said that they were cooking and playing cards when an unknown person or group of people began firing at the group.

One man was struck multiple times before he was able to flee.

Medics took the man to Harborview Medical Center where he was rushed into surgery for his wounds.

A nearby business was also struck with multiple bullets as well as a vehicle that was left behind in the roadway.

Detectives are now investigating both shootings and are asking anyone with information to call the tip line at 206-233-5000.

The Seattle Police Department gang unit and anti-crime teams will continue to conduct emphasis patrols in neighborhoods affected by gun violence.
