Police Arrest Man After Lower Queen Anne Shooting

Police arrested a man in the lower Queen Anne neighborhood Tuesday morning after he shot and wounded his rideshare driver.

Officers were dispatched to the intersection of 4 Avenue North and Mercer Street at 3:15 AM for a report of a shooting. When they arrived, they found the 29-year-old suspect laying on the ground next to a bronze Nissan Altima and a gun on the roof of the car. Police took the man into custody and began checking on the driver of the vehicle. The 29-year-old rideshare driver had a gunshot wound to his lower back and officers began first aid while calling for medics.

Seattle Fire Department medics took the victim to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition.

Officers spoke with the suspect, who claimed that the gun he was carrying went off as he was exiting the vehicle. The suspect was not transporting his firearm in a holster but did have a valid conceal carry permit.

Officers booked the suspect into the King County Jail for investigation of assault.
