Police recovered a stolen vehicle and arrested a suspected carjacker on Sunday.
Around 3:40 PM, Tukwila Police contacted SPD and reported a black Audi stolen in a carjacking in Tukwila had a tracking system installed, which showed the vehicle in Seattle’s Central District.
Officers caught up to the vehicle at 26th Avenue and South Judkins Street, but the suspect sped away. Police later found the vehicle crashed, empty, and missing a wheel at 21st Avenue South and South Spokane Street.
Officers found the suspect a short distance away and took him into custody.
Police discovered the 59-year-old suspect was wanted on a warrant for possession of a stolen vehicle, and was carrying a small amount of heroin. The man appeared to be in medical distress and said he had swallowed narcotics when he saw police arriving.
He was taken to Harborview Medical Center and treated before he was booked into the King County Jail for possession of a stolen motor vehicle, eluding police, and narcotics possession.
