Man Arrested After Firing Gun at Girlfriend

Police arrested a 20-year-old man in the South Precinct on Friday after he fired a gun at his girlfriend following an argument.

Just before 1:15 PM police received reports of gunfire near South Cloverdale Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Way South. Witnesses reported the gunman had walked off down a trail, and police quickly located and arrested the 20-year-old man.

Officers learned the suspect had been riding in a car with his girlfriend when they had gotten into an argument. The suspect demanded to be let out of the car, climbed out, and the drew and fired a handgun at his girlfriend. She was not struck.

The suspect fled and police arrested him and recovered a handgun. The man is a convicted felon and unable to legally possess firearms. He will be booked into the King County Jail for a weapons violation and domestic violence assault.
