Detectives from the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding a collision between a Metro bus and a cyclist Friday evening in downtown Seattle.
At approximately 7:30 pm, an articulated Metro coach was westbound on Denny Way through a green traffic signal at Stewart Street, when an adult male cyclist entered the intersection eastbound on Stewart in front of the bus.
The subsequent collision ejected the rider from the bicycle, causing significant injury. The cyclist was transported to Harborview Medical Center by Seattle Fire medics. The coach operator was evaluated by a Drug Reognition Expert officer and no indications of impairment were observed. TCIS detectives responded to the scene and began their investigation. During the investigation, the streets were closed but have since reopened.
This remains an active and on-going investigation.
