Detectives from the Force Investigation Team (FIT) are conducting the investigation surrounding an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Wednesday evening in the International District.
Shortly after 8:00 pm, officers responded to reports of a female firing a gun at 12th Avenue South and South Jackson Street.
Officers arrived and located the adult female, still armed with a handgun, at 10th and Jackson. Two officers fired their service weapons, striking the woman. Seattle Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the woman to Harborview Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries. None of the involved officers were injured.
Detectives from the Force Investigation Team, CSI, as well as representatives from the Office of Police Accountability and the Inspector General, were present at the scene.
Per the Department’s agreement with the King County Sheriff’s Office, and in accordance with Initiative 940, Sheriff’s Office investigators also responded to conduct an independent investigation.
