Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) detectives are conducting the follow up investigation. An adult male driver has been arrested and several other people are recovering from injuries as a result of this collision.
At approximately 3:10 pm Sunday, July 14th, a 2006 Dodge Charger driven by a 59 year-old male suspect, drove on the planting strip / sidewalk to pass a slower vehicle going eastbound, down the hill in the 2500 block of West Dravus St, and struck a young child who was with his mother on the sidewalk.
The Charger continued eastbound and rear-ended another eastbound vehicle in the 2400 block of W. Dravus, injuring the 49 year-old female driver and her 16 year-old passenger. The Charger continued eastbound down the hill in the oncoming lane, jumped onto the planting strip, and crashed into a wooden utility / light poll at the NW corner of 22 Avenue West and West Dravus Street, damaging the pole.
Patrol units initially responded along with the Seattle Fire Department. TCIS detectives responded to investigate the collisions. The child was transported to Harborview Medical Center by Medics with serious, non-life threatening injuries. The adult female and her juvenile-teen passenger in the rear-ended car were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The adult male suspect was transported to Harborview with non-life threatening injures. He was evaluated by a DUI/Drug-Recognition Expert officer and exhibited signs of impairment. The suspect-driver was arrested for multiple counts of Vehicular Assault and will be booked into the King County Jail.
This remains an active and on-going investigation.
