Police Arrest Twelve Downtown for Narcotics, Warrants and Assault

Officers from the West Precinct concentrated on drug emphasis along Third Avenue, particularly near Yesler Way and Pike Street, yesterday and arrested a number of individuals for drug offenses and warrants.

Officers recovered narcotics, including crack cocaine, methamphetamine and heroin during the emphasis.  A car associated with one of the drug arrests was impounded and officers have applied for a search warrant.

During the emphasis, bicycle officers also noticed a man near 2nd Avenue and Pike attacking pedestrians with a meat cleaver and a stick and quickly took him into custody.   Fortunately, there were no injuries.  The adult male was later booked into the King County Jail on two counts of felony assault.

More than $1,000 was seized during the arrests.   Officers will continue to concentrate their enforcement efforts along Third Avenue.
