A 22-year-old man is in custody after he reportedly cut two people with a small knife last night on Broadway. The injuries were minor and not life-threatening.
At about 7:45 Monday night East Precinct officers responded to a report of an assault in the 1600 block of Broadway. Officers met with the victim who stated that he received a slash on the arm by an unknown male while he was inside a business. Following the assault, the suspect fled the store. Seattle Fire also responded and treated the man at the scene.
Officers conducted a search for the man after obtaining a description of the suspect. A short time later officers saw the suspect riding a skateboard southbound in the 1700 block of Broadway.
Officers contacted the male and took him into custody. A second victim, an adult female, walked up to officers as the suspect was being arrested and informed them that she too had just been slashed on the arm by the suspect as he rode past her on his skateboard. She reported her injury as minor.
Seattle Fire treated her injury at the scene. Neither victim required transportation to the hospital.
The suspect was later booked into the King County Jail on assault charges. Detectives will handle the follow-up investigation.
