Detectives Investigating Fatal Collision in Columbia City

Detectives are investigating after a woman was struck by an SUV that rolled over following a crash in the Columbia City neighborhood Tuesday morning.

Officers were called to the intersection of South Alaska Street and Martin Luther King Jr Way South for a report of a multiple-vehicle crash that careened into a pedestrian at 7:35 AM Tuesday.

Officers and Seattle Fire Department medics quickly arrived and found a woman trapped under an SUV that had rolled over following the initial collision. Medics attempted life-saving measures but the woman was declared dead at the scene.

Traffic collision detectives responded to the scene and do not believe either of the drivers were under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash. Detectives are now working to determine the circumstances that lead up to the crash.
