Detectives from the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) are conducting the investigation surrounding the circumstances that led up to a fatality collision at 85th and Aurora Avenue North Tuesday night.
At approximately 9:20 pm, Seattle Police and Seattle Fire responded to the scene. A 41-year-old male was driving a Chevrolet Astro van southbound in the 8400 block of Aurora Avenue North when it struck a 56-year-old female pedestrian, who was crossing midblock. The pedestrian died at the scene.
Officers interviewed the driver and a Drug Recognition Expert officer evaluated him for any signs of impairment. There were no signs of impairment.
TCIS detectives responded to the scene and began their investigation. Both directions of Aurora Avenue were closed during the investigation but have since reopened.
This remains an active and on-going investigation.
