Detectives are investigating after a dump truck lost control hit a pedestrian, three cars and came to arrest inside of a Pioneer Square restaurant Monday morning.
Just after 9:30 a.m. Monday a dump truck traveling westbound on James Street allegedly suffered a catastrophic mechanical failure the truck begin rolling forward and struck pedestrian at the intersection of 2nd Avenue and James Street.
The driver reportedly attempted to steer the truck through traffic but struck three vehicles in the 100 block of James Street. The truck then ran into a building coming to a rest inside of a restaurant. One employee was inside of the restaurant at the time of the crash and was taken to Harborview Medical Center with minor injuries.
Seattle Fire Department Took The Pedestrian to Harborview Medical Center with serious injuries. They also took two drivers from the struck vehicles to Harborview Medical Center with minor injuries.
Seattle Fire Department evacuated the building due to concerns about the structural integrity.
Detectives are now on scene and expect the area to be closed for the duration of the afternoon.
