University District Homicide Suspect Arrested

UPDATE – August 21, 2019 6:00 p.m.

Seattle Police Homicide detectives arrested the suspect, 21-year-old man, in North Seattle earlier this afternoon. Detectives transported the suspect to Seattle Police Headquarters, and then booked him into King County Jail for Investigation of Murder.

Detectives believe the suspect and the victim were familiar with each other, and a brief verbal dispute precipitated the deadly attack.

Homicide detectives are investigating after a 20-year-old man was found stabbed to death Wednesday night in an alley in the University District.

Shortly after 7:00 pm, officers were dispatched to a report of a stabbing 
in the 1500 block of NE 43rd Street.  Officers responded and located the 20-year-old male in the alley west of the 4200 block of University Way NE.  Seattle Fire was already on scene attempting life-saving efforts.  Despite the efforts, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased at the scene.

Officers interviewed a number of witnesses in the area and secured the scene for detectives.  The King County Medical Examiner responded and took custody of the victim’s body.   Detectives are actively investigating.
