A 50-year-old man is in custody following a street robbery that occurred Sunday morning in the International District. A 44-year-old man was assaulted and is recovering at the hospital.
At approximately 8:30 am Sunday morning, West Precinct officers responded to a 911 call of a man assaulting another man in the street in the 600 block of 5th Avenue South. Officers arrived and saw the suspect running down the street. Officers located the victim, who stated that the unknown man assaulted him and stole his cell phone.
Seattle Fire arrived and treated the man at the scene. He was later transported to Harborview Medical Center for further treatment.
Officers located the suspect a few blocks away and took him into custody. Officers also recovered the victim’s cell phone. The suspect was later booked into the King County Jail.
Detectives will handle the follow up investigation.
