Police arrested a 32-year-old woman Friday in connection with two arson fires, set minutes apart in the same Central District block.
Around 11:30 AM, police and firefighters were called to the 400 block of 12th Avenue after a woman reportedly reached under a fence at a construction site, grabbed an object from under the fence, set it alight and then placed it under a nearby truck. She then left the scene.
Construction workers quickly extinguished the fire but, minutes later, another fire was set in the hallways of an apartment building just across the street.
Witnesses provided a description of the woman seen setting the first fire and provided it to police. Officers found her a short distance away from the scene of the arsons and took her into custody.
Officers found she was carrying two lighters and booked her into the King County Jail for reckless burning.
