Police have referred an investigation into the death of a 58-year-old man to prosecutors after the man died from injuries sustained in a fight near Pioneer Square.
On August 14th, the 58-year-old man reportedly instigated a fight with a 38-year-old man at 3rd Avenue and James Street. During the altercation, the 58-year-old man struck his head on the ground, and was transported to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Medical staff determined the man had sustained a significant brain injury and removed him from life support on August 23rd. The man was pronounced dead the following day.
Investigators identified and interviewed the 38-year-old man involved in the incident and have referred the case to prosecutors for further review.
