Police arrested three people in separate incidents and recovered over $3,000 in stolen merchandise and a handgun Wednesday afternoon.
Officers were working an emphasis patrol in the 2700 block of Utah Avenue South around 5:30 PM Wednesday when they spotted a loss-prevention officer attempting to stop a shoplifter.
The officers joined in the chase and quickly apprehended the 31-year-old suspect. Officers were able to help the loss-prevention officer recover all $3,000 worth of stolen tools taken in the theft.
Police later booked the 31-year-old man into King County Jail for investigation of theft.
In a separate incident at a store in the 7300 block of Delridge Way Southwest, officers arrested two people for theft and recovered a loaded handgun from one of the suspects. Police searched the 35-year-old woman and found the weapon stashed in her purse. Police booked the woman and her accomplice, a 39-year-old man, into King County Jail.
