Man Arrested Following Stabbing in University District

Officers arrested a 40-year-old man after he stabbed two people early Tuesday in the University District following an argument over music.

Witnesses called 911 just after 4:30 am to report two people had been stabbed in the 4700 block of 11 Avenue Northeast. Police arrived and spoke with a 24-year-old woman and a 27-year-old man who said they were sitting on the steps of a nearby church playing music when the suspect approached them. The suspect began yelling at them about the music and then stabbed the two victims before running away.

Medics took the woman to Harborview Medical Center for treatment for a laceration above the eye, while the man was taken to the hospital for a hand injury.

Officers searching the area found the suspect a couple of blocks away and took him into custody without further incident. Officers booked the man into King County Jail for investigation of assault.
