Suspect Arrested Following Robbery on Beacon Hill

South Precinct officers responded to a report of a strong-arm robbery this morning and arrested a 24-year-old man after he stole another man’s cellphone on Beacon Hill.

At around 9:20 am, officers responded to the call in the 1800 block of South Brandon Street, where the 18-year-old victim told officers he was walking down the street when the suspect approached him and grabbed him. The suspect reached into the victim’s pocket, removed his cellphone, and then threatened to shoot the victim.

The victim ran from the suspect and then flagged down someone to call 911.  Officers arrived quickly, set up containment and began their investigation.  The victim gave a detailed description of the suspect and an officer observed a man matching that description board a Metro bus nearby.

Officers stopped the Metro coach and took the suspect into custody. Officers located the victim’s cellphone in one of the bus seats.

The suspect was later booked into the King County Jail for robbery.  Detectives will handle the follow-up investigation.
