Traffic Collision Investigation Squad detectives responded to a fatality collision Tuesday morning at a business at 6th Avenue South and South Holgate Street.
At approximately 10:40 am, officers and Seattle Fire responded to the Goodwill store in SODO for reports of a man pinned between a truck trailer and the east wall of the building, along 6th Avenue.
A delivery truck driver was reportedly backing a trailer into a loading dock when the driver struck an adult male that was in the bushes next to the building. Employees called 911 when they realized that someone was pinned against the building. The victim is not a store employee and it is unclear what he was doing next to the building’s loading docks.
Seattle Fire arrived and transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.
Detectives responded to the scene and began their investigation. The driver was evaluated and exhibited no signs of intoxication or impairment. The truck is also being inspected for any mechanical issues.
This remains an active and on-going investigation.
