Shooting Investigation on Aurora, Suspect Arrested

North Precinct officers responded to a report of a shooting inside a motel room Wednesday evening. Hours later officers identified and arrested the suspect.

At approximately 5:10 pm officers responded to a report of a shooting at a motel in the 8200 block of Aurora Avenue North.  The call indicated that a male had been shot in the leg.

Officers responded and entered the motel room where they located the bleeding victim.  Officers applied a tourniquet to the victim’s leg.  Once the scene was secure, Seattle Fire entered the room and took over the primary care.  The victim was later transported to Harborview Medical Center.  The victim told officers initially that he had shot himself, and then gave conflicting accounts of what had occurred.

Officers were able develop information about a possible suspect observed entering the victim’s room prior to the shooting.

Shortly after 1:00 am Thursday North Anti-Crime Team officers responded back to the motel and located the suspect in a different room. Officers contained the room, called him outside, and took the 47-year-old suspect  into custody without incident.

The suspect was later booked into the King County Jail for investigation of assault.  Detectives will handle the follow up investigation.
