Police Arrest Man After He Assaulted Two People in Rainier Beach Neighborhood

Detectives are investigating after a 48-year-old man assaulted two people before hiding in a house until the SWAT unit took him into custody.

Just before 10 am a man approached the Rainier Beach library and called 911 to report that they had been assaulted in his home by a known man.  Officers arrived and spoke with the man who said he had been assaulted and threatened by an armed suspect before fleeing his home. Officers went to the home to see if the suspect was still there. Police cordoned off the area for safety due to the possibility the suspect was still armed.  As the afternoon went on SWAT officers attempted to convince the suspect to exit the house. Just after 4 pm, SWAT officers took the suspect into custody.

Seattle Fire Department Medics treated the victim for minor injuries at the scene and a second victim was taken to the hospital.

Officers will book the suspect into the King County Jail for investigation of assault and investigation of harassment.

This remains an active case and details may change as the investigation moves forward.
